Headed out for a short session yesterday to a lovely quiet bit of the East coast to give the kayak it's first salty adventure. It was my first go at using the anchor trolley and drift anchor setup, which was interesting but it worked really well to keep us in line with the wind and waves, loads more comfortable and safe than being side on. We fished with some sabiki rigs and managed a small coalfish, a tiny whiting, three dabs and six mackerel. The grey seals were very interested in us, I think they could smell the mackerel! We had one come in really close to us, about 10 feet away from the bow! It was a bit windy but when the wind dropped and the sun came out it was very comfortable!
