Braze a nut onto stainless steel

Cut a V-notch into tang and a point on stainless threaded rod

Jiggle untill good fit

Silver braze it together

Fit bolster

Ready for handle

Brazing the tang was scary, had to work fast so the blade did not get hot. When the braze was done i picked up blade with bare fingers (not hot) and dipped just the blade portion in bucket of cold water. Just felt it starting to get warm

What should i use for handle?

I think i will go leuku style handle with flared butt

It is hot enough when the brazing rod melts at around 700 c

looks like a very long handle?


For future reference - stick the blade in a melon that has been in the fridge - or stab it in then freeze the melon and place blade back in when working. That will keep it cool.

It is long at the mo i will cut it to length later

Ensure blade is clean - once the work is finished fill the melon with vodka

That looks superb,i have an H1 which has become a favourite user of mine, i love the dimensions/blade shape and user comfort of the factory knife but that mod takes it up a notch.Great job.
