Has anyone any experience of these jackets that can relate ?

As I have just got one to notice it appears to be a mk2 version in that it's somewhat different to the original - a fixed hood, top loading chest pockets in addition to the two top loading lower pockets, and a lighter mesh inner, no inner pocket and no outer Nelson pocket.

And in relate, advise of how useful they are in the rain.

I had one of the older ones (still got it somewhere I think). Nice jacket to wear in the hills but useless in real rain (i.e. British rain). Like all their clothing it dries very quickly but, anything more than a light shower, and it offers no protection at all.

I have one and agree with Broch. Very comfortable windproof with shower resistant capabilities and very fast drying. Similar to a military smock. In the hills however I would always take a waterproof.
