I think the coastal option is probably the best option for the same reasons as already given, after all our primitive ancestors flourished in these areas. As to which part of the world I think Southern Coastal France would be ideal, milder winters and warmer summers than Britain but with much the same flora and fauna. Although I could be wrong having never been there, I am just making this assumption on a geographical basis!
