I'm planning on doing my first bit of leather dyeing tonight and wondered whether anyone had some brilliant tips. I'm using the proffessional oil dye.

1. For better coverage, slightly dampen the leather first.
2. Apply dye with a clean paint brush for large areas, use a cotton bud to get into fiddly areas.
3. Wear rubber gloves throughout, and an apron.
4. Put old newspaper down before you start.

Thanks Eric, great advice.
Do I need to clean the leather with anything first?

Preparation New Natural Veg-Tan leather will not need any preparation. If however you suspect that there is any dirt or oil or wax on the surface it will be advisable to wipe the surface with “Dye-Prep”

I knew I had seen this somewhere and better from the horses mouth so to speak.
