Cleaning ally bottles

I've been given a aluminium military water bottle, the out side is ok, so is the seal, but the inside has white pitting/growths, which I assume is oxidization.

How do you safely clean the inside ? or should I cut it up an use it for something else ?

Try a Milton tablet or two in it with some cold water. Keep giving it a good shake and leave for a few days.

Brake cleaner as a last resort then a good wash with food safe normality

fill it with vinegar for a week then give a good going over with a bottle brush. oxidisation needs acid to remove

by far the best method which has an instant result and is totally food safe is to ad a handfull of sand,half fill with water put the lid on and shake for 3 minutes,pour out the sand and rinse the bottle,look inside and see a nice shiney clean surface.

Ta for that one ... I'd forgot how good sand is.

Heard of people using BBs too, handful inside and shake.
