City park Fungi id

[Tadpole]

This is growing on the base of a tree cut down about two years ago. The council left the felled trees as a place for kids to explore.
Any Idea what it is? In real life it is a(was) more vibrant yellow

From the photo, I would concur. Get a field guide from your local library Tadpole, take it along and check it out. COTW is an eater, some people don't get on with it, but you have to get it before it goes woody and hard.
