Dear All

I work for a 5* hotel in Hertfordshire

We are looking for a Leader to run bush craft session every Saturday morning for 7 weeks over the summer at our hotel.

We will be hosting summer camps every weekend and require someone to run a session with up to 40 children with 4 of my own staff to help out.
The idea is to learn about camping, fires, maybe some knots etc but it has to be a fun interactive session from 10:30 – 11:45.

If this something anyoen out there would be able to help us out with?

I'd look for your regional Forest School leaders - Try your local Wildlife Trust.

Depending on what you are doing but I'd say 1 leader for 40 children is not nearly enough - for in-depth tuition & for safety reasons.

Good luck, sounds like a nice idea.

does it come under your public liability insurance or the instructors? if you stick it on yours then you can employ someone to teach which means you can get anyone who is good with kids. also thats a very shallow timescale to work on as 75 minutes wouldnt allow you to cover much and the subject would have to be simple enough for the staff to be able to oversea and mimic. 40 kids and 5 staff in total you might get a bowdrill session out of it but not much more if you wanted something specifically bushcraft. is it for residents or are you opening it up so you get local kids in each week necessating a lesson change but also the chance to extend the subject matter.

it is very similar to a scout outdoor troop night though so not impossible to do if you base it on a what to do if you get lost type of thing and include how to make different fires and cook a sausage on a stick.

it might even be worth approaching the local scout community or even gilwell park. hang on... watford not far from troy and his dad. if they are going this weekend I'll ask them. I'll be buzzing around the area next week so can maybe pop round and suss out what you can do in the area with the time slot.

you could also ask trueways as they have a shop round the m25 and run london based courses.
