Bought a gelert DS elite 2 man tent.

Anyone had one of these before? Payed 40 pounds hoping that the cheap cost doesn't mean its going to be rubbish!

How much does it weigh ?, in any event at £40 you can put up with a bit of extra weight, it won't kill you. I've got a vango banshee 2 man, that weighs in at 2kilos.

If you're not using it on exposed moorland in high winds it should be fine for woodland or sheltered camping

One relatively cheap and simple upgrade would be to replace GRP poles with aluminium as they're lighter and more durable. I'm going to do this with my Gelert solo.

Gelert are a great company - I've a Meridian 10 (huge thing) but one of the poles broke in a massive storm near Snowdon; went in their factory shop in Beddgelert and they just gave me a new set no questions asked. Might not be a Terra Nova but I bet it;s great value for money - wish they'd do more technical lightweight tents...
