The last couple of times i have started to light a fire with flint and steel using 'dry' grass i have struggled to blow the ember in to a flame. This is because the only grass i could find at the time was not 100% bone dry. There were large plumes of very thick smoke emitted when blowing, and it is very difficult to blow to a flame.
If tinder is damp are there any techniques to get to a flame? i.e. blowing softer/harder or using a tighter/looser tinder bundle or adding other natural tinders in with the grass???
cheers
