Just before Christmas I popped into the Works bookshop in Basingstoke looking for stocking fillers and found one for myself.

After picking up to have a browse of what I thought was just another flower ID book I was somewhat taken aback.

The book Wildflowers of Britain and Ireland by Charles Coates is a gem.

Not only is it easy to use as a guide but every flower shown has notes on its history, local names, superstition, folklore, medicinal uses, edible and other uses.

This is one ID book for my pack and it only cost me 3 quid (not the Amazon price).

Cheers

I bought THIS one a while ago, can't fault it for my use. Colour coded so as soon as you see the colour of the flower you go to the right section.
Also got THIS book which is more specialised towards herbs and medicinal, its also colour coded which is great as long as whatever your trying to identify is flowering.
