    Wood selection query..

I've had a go at carving a couple spoons in the past few weeks using some less than ideal wood - i.e. branches about 1 - 1.5inches thick.. While this has helped me get used to the tools - both in terms of working with the wood and avoiding cutting myself too badly (after one time going into work...

    Tea in the field

Well, having had a read of the coffee thread, despite not drinking it (foul stuff :D), thought I should start a similar one on tea - I'm a big fan of tea, and curious how people drink it when they're out and about, and what sort of tea people like.. My brew of choice is Clipper Fairtrade...

    Crook knives / decent axe

Hi.. To help with my general bushcraftiness, I'm in need of a crook knife (my sliced fingers have told me they'll go on strike if I continue to try and carve out the bowl of a spoon with a normal knife!) and a decent axe. When I say decent axe I mean something that I won't have to spend hours...

    Hammock Camping in Yorkshire...

Hi all.. Since I'll be receiving a new DD hammock in the next week or so (subject to the vagaries of British banks), I'm keen to get out and try it.. I'm based in York, and quite keen to hear if anyone can recommend a decent local-ish camp-site with support for hammocks (pun intended :D), as...

    Problem with Articles page

I'm accessing the site with Firefox (latest version) - and I'm finding a problem with the DIY Articles section off the main page. The first page shows fine (Articles 1-50/65) - but I'm unable to see the second page, after clicking either "Next" or "End". Is this a problem for anyone else?

    Server Problems?

Just wondering if anyone else is getting the site lagging really badly sometimes? In fact, there's been a couple times the site seems to have crashed even - been unable to load even the main page... I thought it might be my connection/router initially - but all other websites are working...

    Finishing handle on butter knife...

Given that I'm a rank amateur at any sort of woodwork, as the attached photo shows, I'd appreciate some advice on how to finish up the handle. I want it to keep it's very minimalist, comfortable look and feel - but as it stands I'm not quite happy with the butt-end of the handle.. Would...

    Another pesky newcomer...

Hi all, just a short note to say hello, and introduce myself.. I'm 32, with an interest in the outdoors - I enjoy walking (just getting over a long-running back problem so waaaaay out of shape), photography (though very amateur-level compared to some) and camping (though only campsites so far...
