    PLCE Bergan mods?

GIYF is a term folk use. Search for it. Short back tends to be for shorter people and therefore long back for taller people. In the forces, the training staff tend to have that skill where they can advise you as to what will be best for you. But as you progress you can swap and change to find...

PLCE Antenna carrier - side pouch

If there is a 13 didgit part number on it you could try google for some more info. You could try contacting PRI. They are a UK based company who produce kit for the MOD amongst other things. There is various bits of kit involved with ECM Electronic Counter Measures, these are recent...

    PLCE Bergan mods?

I dont think there is a definative source of all mods to a bergen. Even the name used often varies, Bergan Bergen Burgan Burgun (ive found a few of those on Ebay!) I would say GIYF, Google is your Friend, and youtube. Its a bit like mods to cars, boats ect. There are lots of variations that...

    PLCE Bergan mods?

I am not sure of the width on the long back, but you could extend it onto the vertical thin cover pieces that protects the sidepouch zips. With the shortback, the relocated pouch is on the main panel and does not extend onto the cover piece. You could fit just two wtbl/util pouches along the...

    PLCE Bergan mods?

I think Ive mentioned this previously. If you have the shortback PLCE it is wider than the long back. This allows you to remove the external zipped pouch and remount it horizontal futher up the body. Ive then mounted three surplus PLCE waterbtl or utility pouches along the bottom edge, remove...

    German army goretex trousers?

I think you may be talking about the plain olive/green ones with a leg gusset/zip and an ankle velcro adj strap? 2nd hand Goretex is dubious. Mine seemed OK for a year but I find that with all Goretex. These Austrian/German army ones are great at that price. The flyzip and flap didnt really...

NEW British Army Issue Green Lightweight Trousers 80/96/112 - 38" Waist, 31" Leg

Anyone wanting to get a pair of these should look on a certain internet auction site. Going for £20 inc P&P They are great trousers for field use and dry quickly if wet. They seem to be rarer than hens teeth these days. In the past it seemed that every brickie and labourer wore them as standard...

    British Army ”Softie” jacket

I totally agree with the comments from Mowmow and The Lord Poncho. I never used my issued reversible set as they were just a cheap copy of the snugpak jkt. I have the new PCS pull on cagoule/smock and its fleece lining does stick like velcro to any similar fleecy undershirt. Sizing seems a...

    What is this please ?

I would go back to the source and ask them. Local museum, library ect for knowledge. Take some pics and put a notice on the supermarket free addds notice board. Are antiques roadshow due in your area soon? Might be worth a try, local antique shops.

    What is this please ?

Have you tried a google image search? Prob need to take pics with a plain sheet on the floor and as a backdrop to cancel out all the other stuff. What is the history of it? Did it come with the house or have you just found it? What do the handles do? What moves and what doesnt move? Is that...

Anyone able to make a SAS smock up from a bolt of cloth?

I think I may have read it. Actually Ive got two books by him, think I got them from Penrith or point North a fabric supplier many moons ago. One is clothing, the other is outdoor gear. I found this thread whilst searching for articles about clothing patterns. I have an urge to try and make...

Anyone able to make a SAS smock up from a bolt of cloth?

I have no doubt it will be a quality item, but, the buttons down the front are a deal breaker for me. If you are on your belt buckle or near a cam net you are guarenteed to loose buttons.

Anyone able to make a SAS smock up from a bolt of cloth?

Sorry for bumping an old thread. Found it for searching the forum for clothing patterns. I agree with the OP about blowing the bank to get a custom made smock. I am after a MTP SAS smock, there are a few genuine on ebay but they seem to be cadet size. Adult ones are £200 plus. Silly money...

    Mini ferrorod struggles

I recently saw a youtube video of someone holding the knife blade stationary in the tinder and drawing the rod across the back of the blade. I had never thought of doing it that way or seen it done previously. I am new to the wildness skills and would be grateful for feedback on what is the...

    Best KFS set

Thank you all for the feedback and links. I had looked around at various options but was interested to hear what other folk found best. When I first started eating out in the field I used a set of those ones that clip together with a rivit system, I wasnt keen on the uncomfortable rivet. I...

    Best KFS set

Looking for some advice on an available Knife Fork Spoon KFS set. Probably an ex army set that clips together. Looking for a robust set that has a good cutting knife and a substantial fork.

Current issue mess kits (lack of info?)

During army basic training many troops bought the bluet camping gaz type cookers, but eventually they runout of fuel, and the army only resupply you with hexi(at the time) so it would be the same with the jetboils. You have to be able to use what is provided for you, its more than likely...
