    What did you forage today?

Gentle potter today. I couldn't resist picking a few bits and bobs: Hogweed shoots (I'm the only one in the house that likes them) Wild onions Cleavers (incredibly green, fresh and juicy at this time of year) Garlic mustard (again, all mine, their loss) A few weeks ago I made wild garlic...

    Smart 'phone apps for bushcraft.

I like Flora incognita and Plant net for plant identification. Neither are 100% accurate, but then nor am I! I find if cross reference them I get the right plant. It's always best to back it up with an actual book. A bit like map and compass for navigation. Apps are great and useful, but...

    Fresh bread!

I make sourdough bread once or twice a week. This batch and the temperature aligned to create a beauty. There wasn't much left after others in the house discovered it. I was inspired to try a wild garlic and green olive foccaccia, for a change, finished with smoked sea salt. I think it will...

    Ramson Soy

What's the grill called that people use ?

Simon can tell you everything you need to know. On the youtubes. Careful though, I find this sort of video has a habit of loosening the closure on my wallet!

    Handkerchiefs

I've very often got a cotton handkerchief in my pocket. Always a paper one or a napkin picked up from somewhere. I'm still living with the trauma of my Dad spitting on his to wipe my face :yuck: When I hit 30 I told him enough was enough.

Amazon Prime - Have you quit?

Sorry Tony, I kinda knew, as I was responding, that I shouldn't have said anything! (so, er, here I go again?) I deliberately gave a shorter reply as to my reasons for not using Amazon, as there's a long list of why I don't, other than tax. Writing replies on my phone is very laborious, (I'm...

Amazon Prime - Have you quit?

Sorry, as soon as I hear amazon mentioned it gets my back up. If we as individuals don't pay our taxes we get fines, or worse. The huge multinational doesn't? Not OK. With the amount of money it has? I stopped using that company about 15 years ago.

    Pork scratchings...yes or no?

Scratchings, yes, obviously! Fat = flavour. A sad fact, but a fact nonetheless. But then I don't want to live a life of a monk. Bad for you is where some of the good stuff of life is. I can resist everything except moderation! But not that puffy polystyrene nonsense. They dry your mouth out...
