    Simple woodspirit

The knife I used was a small carving knife about 50mm in length. I'm on the lookout for a nice small spoon knife next.

    Simple woodspirit

I got the idea from a Greencraft video on YouTube. The top of the stick is the wizards head, the barley twist on the middle represents the connection between all things in nature and the symbols are important natural aspects of British natural heritage. The shield at the base means they need to...

    Bushmoot beef jerky

Interesting! Thanks for the suggestions regarding the wood choice, fruit wood sounds good too but unfortunately there was none in the wood, I only used a small amount of pine (I got the idea from a type of green tea from China which is smoked over pine needle fires) I covered the top of the...

A big thank you to Tony and the team for organising the autumn bushmoot! Had a fantastic week of great company and food. Bushmoot beef jerky

Had a go at making some beef jerky at the bushmoot. I was experimenting with a frame which doesn't require cordage. I cut the beef about 6mm thick and seasoned with garlic salt and paprika. It was cold smoked over two days, with a mixture of ash, poplar and pine wood chips. Here is the...

Looking for a good pair of work trousers..

Try apache holster. About £30. Good solid work trousers, next day delivery when I ordered from their UK website. Triple stitched inner seams and double on the outside. They have a really useful pocket above the right knee.

    Trees

Haha Yeah :) they are a hybrid species cultivated in the Victorian era in a bid to combat pollution. Also are more tolerant to cramped soil conditions and harsh pruning which they are subjected to in London.

    Field mushroom

Yeah I've looked into growing mushrooms, the ones I've seen are inoculated dowels that you freeze then tap into a log with pre drilled holes. Ive got stacks of timber atm so would be nice to get something edible from them rather than just heat!
