Suffolk Canoe Trip with The Canoe Man

Was a very relaxing weekend, but more about giving The Canoe Man a bit of publicity, was a good outfit and very nice staff. I don’t tend to write about bad experiences or poor service as it may be a one off for them, and there seems to be too much petty grumbling like that already. Good...

Suffolk Canoe Trip with The Canoe Man

Quick review of a three day outing I had thanks to The Canoe Man In Norfolk last year. Having completed the Expedition Canoe Course with Frontier Bushcraft the other year, I have been finding it difficult to 'get out' and do any canoeing that didn't bill by the hour. I have enjoyed the...

    Open River Canoe Adventures (ORCA).

I’ve since built a second canoe using their plans (which you can buy from them). Made a few changes such as having higher sides on the canoe and a few purely cosmetic changes. Have a great time!

Expedition Canoeing Skills Review (Frontier Bushcraft)

Yes, a few of us spoke to PK about courses and (from memory) he is running extra dates this year due to last years Lockdown. Frontier’s courses always seem to book up fast, and I can say from experience that it’s well worth signing up to their cancellation lists.

Expedition Canoeing Skills Review (Frontier Bushcraft)

As with the Forest Hunter Course, I was only able to join this course due to some last minute cancellations and the help of Amanda at Frontier Bushcraft who processed my booking at an ungodly hour of the night, so a special thanks to her. I recently completed the Expedition Canoeing Skills...

Forest Hunter Course Review (Frontier Bushcraft)

It took me a long time to get round to writing this review, but now that I’m booked on for another course with Frontier Bushcraft (Expedition Canoeing Skills) , I feel that this is somewhat overdue... The Forest Hunter Course with Frontier Bushcraft was a fantastic experience and something I...

    Frontier Bushcraft’s ‘Forest Hunter’ Course

Considered it, but transport is an issue for me as I’m having to fly up there, and unless they assess on site, Its going to be hard to get around. Plus the extra time off may be an issue with work. have you got the joining instructions yet? need to get planning re. transport...

    Frontier Bushcraft’s ‘Forest Hunter’ Course

Hi, I wasn’t able to post this in the Courses section as I didn’t have the requisite ‘privileges’ to do so... hope this is close enough. I am enrolled in the Paul Kirtley Forest Hunter course this October, I had missed the enrolment period but managed to get one of the cancelled spaces...

    Ground Mat Recommendations

Love my Hennessy... used to have a Ticket To The Moon Double which I reallly liked, but the issue of needing an under blanket/keeping a insulating pad inside the hammock meant that I needed a change. I have the Jungle Expedition Zip, double layered (as the other poster said) so the mat is...

    Ground Mat Recommendations

Was considering a Thermarest, but even the 3/4 ones are still quite large... best thing about my old cheap one was that it was small enough that I could roll it up and stick it in my pocket (maybe it isn’t soo surprising that it punctured so easily?!?). Size vs. Expense vs. Durability... pretty...

    Ground Mat Recommendations

Do you think this would be any good for sleeping on the ground? looks like there’s athin layer of foam in there, maybe bubble wrap style, does seem very thin though...

    Ground Mat Recommendations

Hi, recently had a week of Hammock camping in South Wales with a couple of mates, but had some issues with a punctured ground mat on the last night. I use the mat for insulation in my hammock as it gives me the flexibility to sleep on the ground should I need to (so I am not interested in an...

    Open River Canoe Adventures (ORCA).

Hi, I’ve been a long time lurker in the forum and have only recently stated posting. I thought I’d write a quick review for a Canoe building course I completed last year with Open River Canoe Adventures (ORCA) in Pooley Bridge, The Lake District. ORCA offer amongst other things) four day...

    Does anyone recognise this pot?

Good idea, but single walled, so no good for keeping food warm... Been ages since I’d even thought of a Norge though!

    Does anyone recognise this pot?

Pointed out by my father that the text actually says remove lid before re-heating... so perhaps a pot for preserving, similar to a Kilmer jar... still no luck searching for one though!!!

    Does anyone recognise this pot?

Well spotted, but I can’t imagine why it would have such strong latches or pressure valve unless there was some similar purpose...

    Does anyone recognise this pot?

My dad has had a ?military surplus cooking pot for some years. It’s a couple of litres in capacity, ?made of aluminium and appears to work as a pressure cooker (due to a small valve on the lid and the substantial clasps that’s hold the lid down). I’ve searchedall I’ve the place and can’t seem...
