I've been keeping an eye on Ebay, but that seems a little pricey considering the only modification is the hipbelt.

    North Wood Meet, June 29 - July 01 2018

Finally got my shifts in for the weekend and it looks like I can't get out of the day shift for Saturday but have the entirety of Sunday off. Will the car boot be on the Saturday? As I am currently looking for a new pack, something along the lines of the Swedish LK35 with nice wide openings and...

    User names.

I don't think I would mind a change of name either. Oweneagle has been my online name for ages as Owen was my underused first name before I formally swapped it over to Bracken. I don't think I could find a better name for an outdoors forum than that anyway.

Trip Report Tour of Scotland (WIP)

Got the final episode up (finally): I am currently in the process of reevaluating my kit lists and trying to throw together a proper bushcraft setup to force me to develop my skills and reduce reliance on gear. I've also made the decision to keep the momentum going and learn something new...

Trip Report Tour of Scotland (WIP)

Thanks, I'm sure it will. I came across a great mentality expressed by one of the guests of the Paul Kirtley Podcast a while back, where basically he accomplished all sorts of extended expeditions by only allowing himself to make the decision to quit when he was warm, well fed and rested. So...

Interestingly enough, beyond my emergency items (first aid kit etc.), if I pack it I tend to use it. Which does make trying to eliminate items a challenge. First of the trip videos:

Trip Report Tour of Scotland (WIP)

Hi all, As some of you might know from my other thread, I have been planning an expedition to Scotland for some time. Due to not having a clear aim for what I want to get out of the trip, and constantly changing circumstances, it did not end up being a self-supported walking journey but rather...

    elderflower season

I usually make a mint and elderflower tea blend, you just have to be careful to dry the flower heads on a tray or sheet to avoid losing the pollen etc. (where the flavour and medicinal benefits are).

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

I've had a decent look at the East Highland way and looks like it may be a winner, just got to hope I can get my holiday request in time.

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

Yep, that's what I have heard, will be packing at least one set of winter clothing. I will look into those, thanks. I plan to take plenty of photos but still debating whether to lug my big camera with me for convenience and quality of pictures. To be honest, based on my last walk, 5km per...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

I'm always happy to take advice from people who have walked the walk and I am still open to changes of plan. I don't mind the trip being less 'bushcrafty' and do have bits and pieces of lightweight equipment, however, the picture you paint does sound more unappealing. Is there anywhere else in...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

Hi all, an update on my planning process. After a lot of research, deliberation and discussions with various others and a broadening of my search, I narrowed my choices down to: The Pennine Way - Good amount of challenge and relatively quiet Cumbria Way - Good for people starting out and...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

I was thinking 5 days to a week, but I do have a pretty flexible job at the moment so I could take more or less time off. I figure that even if I don't do a whole route, I can still pick up pieces of it here and there. I tend to be more about the journey (the walking) than the destination...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

Sounds great, heard it's warmer too. Can you recommend any particular area? Will be checking these out, thanks. Yes, I've heard Dartmoor recommended quite often. It ticks quite a few boxes in that there is a lot of empty space to wander as well as a tolerance of wildcamping. Still working...

    Planning UK Walking Adventure Ideas

Hi all, Been working hard on developing my skills and equipment over the last couple of years and a few bushcraft meets and now looking to do a UK based mini-expedition. However, I am struggling to work out where to start looking for ideal locations. Details: I am looking at doing a...
