    Hot tent trip

Had a couple of nights away last weekend to one of my favourite spots in a birch woodland. I try to make a pilgrimage to this spot at least once every winter as it seems so sooth the soul. Once the light fades it comes alive with the sounds of the forest . I never took an abundance of pictures...

    Sold Frontier stove flue section

Clearing up in the workshop and came across a spare flue section for my old frontier stove. I don’t think it’s ever been used. Dimensions are approximately 16” long x 2” wide I’ll never need it as I’ve changed to a winnerwell nomad. £10 including postage. PayPal preferred. Thanks HF

    Wow, inflation

Eating out is now reserved for special occasions, the rise in prices post covid are just ridiculous. I know that increased energy costs will have an impact but there seems to be no end to it. HF

    Barter system

Today’s trade was 3 surplus tomato plants, 2 cucumber plants and 2 chilli plants for couple of jars this coming seasons blackberry jam. As I grow my plants from seed it’s always handy to grow extra. Also filled my logs store again for the coming winter and it’s as always strangely satisfying. HF

    What are you growing?

When I was young my father was an avid vegetable grower. We used to go out with a pointy stick and pick up sheep poo and put it in a sandbag. He had a big old water butt he used to put said filled sandbags in. Filled the watering can from it . Rocket fuel on the veggies. Adle he used to call it

    Day Out Fishing bimble

Took a trip to my usually productive brown trout loch. A nice couple of mile walk in and lunch of the ubiquitous beans and sausages but alas no trout.

    Wood burners in the news

As a woodburner owner I am in agreement that there needs to be some middle ground met. Burning old pallets , builders offcuts and moisture laden wood create more pollution than properly dried wood, educating rather than legislating is the way forward in my opinion. We have access to woodland...

Looking forward to getting the seeds started in the greenhouse this year. With food costs rising I feel as if it has more purpose than ever. Tomatoes, cucumbers, chillies ,chives and lettuce these are the things we use most .
