    War Archer!

Your google search has missed a varied host of woods for making bows. Including faggoting shoots and otherwise unsuitable growth for same. My initial, and continuing, input has and is solely on the merits of the wood and what is required of it. Throughout this thread your basic need to be...

    War Archer!

And my tricycle is the fastest on the block,....especially when mounted with a lawnmower engine. By your very statement, requiring sinew backing to especially make a suitable short bow, you reflect that the native woods cannot stand alone on their merits for the task. There is a reason why the...

    War Archer!

My Osage orange self bow is about a yard long and has a 50lb draw weight. Full draw is ridiculously short. I don't see this guy using it any more than I can for tricks, but it is quick on the follow up. The Western Hemisphere, pre Columbo, never passed the stone age. Many types of bow were used...

    Rope

Um,... Yeah,.... I do pre-1840 fur trade era. What's paracord? (yes, I know)

    Rope

I've carried a length of 3/8 manila/sisal (hemp if available) on my pack for years. It gets used a lot. An improvised ridge line if several of us combine our cloths into a super shelter, tying an otherwise unwieldy bunch of firewood together to get back to camp, hauling gear into trees, cutting...

    Gory pics warning

That deer was pretty healthy until it died. If you've had a cold winter it would also serve to cull weak or sick animals. My guess is, providing the animal hasn't been disturbed postmortem, that it may have suffered a non lethal injury to its rear end, probably ended up in some boggy area...

    Realy dumb question?

Raw rabbit (tried a morsel as a curious kid) isn't very palatable, so not my choice. The incidence of running across oysters, steak tartar and/or raw pork sausage out in the wild is pretty slim around my neck of the woods. Naturally, individual results may vary geographically, as would...

    Realy dumb question?

Oysters, steak tartar, pork sausage, .....yeah, I eat a lot of raw stuff. No side effects....at least that's what the voices keep telling me.

    More for me, then.

    Realy dumb question?

The old saying of "Meat's meat" goes. I've had dog plenty, likely cat. Beaver isn't all that bad...pork like. Snake more than I can count, possum's good, grasshoppers, frog, 'gator's delicious (especially fried in New Orleans), escargots (of course), various creepycrawlies and all the game...

    DIY Hex Tarp

Exceptionally clever. It's not often that a completely new design emerges in a saturated market. You should be very proud of yourself and strongly consider patenting your design before someone else does.

    Would you buy this gun?

OK, here goes....against my better judgment.... Birds, they're taken on the wing. Shucking noise is negated as they're already on the move. Deer, well, some folks are happy to sit around and wait. I still hunt, which means I'm stalking.....giving the quarry every possible chance other than...

Kit you keep in the car

The truck has tools in it, already. And a blanket. I always carry a knife. The only other thing I keep in any vehicle is a roll of bum fodder.

    Yeah, ok. :)

    Would you buy this gun?

Were we all to be going after a wounded bear every time we set out, perhaps different considerations could be made regarding strategy. I've never felt the need for getting the drop on a duck, deer or squirrel before they got me, though. ;) ;)

    Would you buy this gun?

I'm not sure why my carrying on an empty chamber when you all don't makes me particularly SOL,..unless were all out there against each other. All I know is over MY years traipsing through all kinds of terrain and varying obstacles, seeing people stumble, single-filing up or down steep grades...
