Question regarding water purifying in light of the Derby water chlorine problem

Looks like something went badly wrong in Derbyshire with their water purification plant the other day with instructions not to drink, wash, bathe or even clean your toilet! Under those type of circumstances - especially as you can imagine that supplies of bottled water dried up very fast in...

    BUFFS - Good or.... ?

I'd never heard of them before, some years ago I had a small scrim scarf, but I was in a Go Outdoors store the other day and there was this huge section showing buffs, and really extolling how great they are, how useful, how you would be able to pick up beautiful women while wearing them etc...

Looking for a small nylon pouch for mini first aid kit

Posting here as I can't seem to find anything anywhere on-line. I'm using a Maxpedition Thermite as my basis for a 72 hr pack. This item has a thin zipped flap where you can put small items in. I'm trying to source basically a small nylon thin pouch/envelope where I can put plasters, burn gel...

Curious - would bankline, work as a makeshift candle wick/

Bankline (tarred twine) makes good cordage as its not as bulky as paracord, just wondering if cutting a small length of it, would work as a makeshift candle wick or no, any thoughts? http://www.thebushcraftstore.co.uk/mariner-tarred-twisted-nylon-twine---bank-line-13991-p.asp

    cotton buds with paper stems?

I'm including these into my first aid pack and as alternative wicks for things like Vaseline/chapstix etc. Only problem is, after looking around I can only see these with crap hollow plastic stems, would anyone know where the 'old fashioned' ones like you used to get would be able to purchase now.

    AA powered emergency flasher

Thought I'd put this out, to see if the bushcraft massive have any ideas. I'm trying to keep all my battery powered stuff to AA size, easy availability, reasonable power, only one size to store etc. I have a main torch but I'm looking for something I can use that is about the same size as an...

    Fiskars X5 or X7 Axe?

I originally felt an X5 would be fine, and it was quite compact, then I saw one in the flesh and was surprised how small/light it was. Is it really much good for general camp/bushcraft tasks, or would the X7 be more useful?

    Roughneck gear any good?

I was in my local JTF store & I noticed a selection of roughneck hardware including a Roughneck Wood Grenade Log Splitter & Roughneck hand axes with fibreglass handles, the prices weren't extortionate The Handaxe was comparable in size to a Fiskars x5 hit or miss?

Jack of all trades - master of none/ or...

Saw this, and wondered if it would work as one tool does many things. http://www.greenmanbushcraft.co.uk/cutting-tools/knives/condor-wilderness-survival-tool.htm Or best avoided?

    58 pattern water bottle

Was just idly wondering, if this was really first made in 1958, and if so, wow it's been going for an awfully long time without an update, couldn't easily tell when I had a look on-line, maybe someone more knowledgeable could enlighten me.

Recommend me a molle pouch that fits my Crusasder 2 set+

The molle pouch supplied with the kit is fine but.. when I try and add my 250ml bottle of dragon gel, it cant *quite* fit. I like to keep all my cook stuff in one place if possible, I just need a pouch that's a little bit wider, anyone have any ideas? (preferably in black as most of my kit is black)
