    S-Curved Sewing Needles

Wanted to give an enthusiastic endorsement for these. S-Curved needles. Also known as serpentine post-mortem needles. If you have a repair kit, one of these belongs in it. If you make things out of leather, you ought to get one. The shape of them makes sewing much easier, and the point will go...

    Patchery

I am very blessed to have access to it. And the funny thing is, for me the end results are fun and all, but really it's the aspect of learning and trying new things and getting better at it, that's the really enjoyable part. I'm doing things that I couldn't even have fathomed 5 years ago.

    Patchery

A Velcro backed Velcro logo on Velcro. How meta is that? A friend's son is a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan. Any chump can go to the store and buy branded merchandise. He has something utterly unique. One of the first patches I wanted to make when I had an opportunity to play with an embroidery...

    Patchery

Yes! Death's Head Moth. Three separate pieces. Velcro on the thorax, but none on the wings so they're loose. the antenna are a piece of cotton wrapped wire. As a Hollander, it's a given I'd wear a poppy. But I was never a fan of the plastic and pin thing we can get here from the Legion. So I...

    Exotac-style repair kit

I guess I'd only ever used smallish ones, and figured bending them would be a cinch. Once they start getting to 3", 4", they're a different thing altogether.

    Exotac-style repair kit

I tried something similar. Bobbin, and a large cotter pin. Thread on the bobbin, gaffer tape around the cotter pin. Only problem is that a cotter pin the size I used was near on impossible to bend flush with the bottom of the bobbin. Duh... This looks good.

    World's Coolest Survival Kit

Immodest perhaps, but I think I made the coolest survival kit ever. First one I made was the Owl'mups to hold a Schrade Credit Card Knife. There's a snap on the back of the head that goes through the finger ring to hold it in place. The head is four separate pieces sewn together by hand. After...

    Fox'mups

After making the Owl'mups (containing a knife), then the Terrapin'mups (containing a compass), and then the Trout'mups (containing a fishing kit), I finally had a chance to do what was originally going to be the third one, the Fox'mups, containing a fire starter kit. I had begun it 2 years...

    Sun & Moon Watch Sleeve

Made this sun and moon sleeve for a pocket watch. Two pieces sewn together for each side, and then the two sides sewn together at the seams. Approximately 55 hours in this. The collection keeps growing.

    Joining Rip Stop Nylon

Buy a machine and learn to sew. We weld fabrics at my work and it’s a whole other kettle of fish requiring very specialized equipment. Tape and an iron tends to give kind of half assed results.

    Edelweiss

Thought of sewing it to the side of a cap. But it's a little too big for that I think. Right now it sits on the little shrine on my mantle.

    Edelweiss

4 separate pieces, no actual fabric used, done on water soluble backing with a 3D satin stitch, 3 different shades of white, sewn together and the beads also attached with fishing line.

    Upgraded Bushcraft Pants

The funny thing is that I don't carry that much in my pockets when I'm on foot. Toque maybe, gloves, a snack or two. But in a canoe I carry a fair bit more in my pockets. These are fairly roomy. I haven't had too much cause to do any headkicking lately, but if I did, I have a pretty decent...

Thanks. No. Just made it up as I went. A look at the Mountainsmith ought to show the way to go. There might be a pattern floating around out there for the Jerry Chair.

    Upgraded Bushcraft Pants

I've had 2 pairs of these Dutch DPM pants for more than 20 years. Bought one in 97 and another in 98. Both from 1990. Brand new when I got them, and most importantly, they fit my galootish frame. They've been my go to bumming around in the woods pants. Other than wearing the butt out on both, I...

    Folding knife with saw blade?

Don't know if they still make it, but SOG had / has a knife and saw as one blade that rotates around a pivot. The SOG Revolver.

I colour print or photocopy and laminate them. I usually go for 8.5" x 8.5".

Though about it, but I think this is already a pretty hefty pack with just the main compartment. The expansion pocket even feels like over kill. (It was an idea in my head, so what the heck, make it to try.) The idea there was if I did want to carry extra food, I could put it there, or, transfer...
