    Elk/Moose hunt, 2020 Ed.

@Tengu Three or four years is my guess too. 220 kg meat (and bone) @slowworm Well, we hunt them after a spring and summer of eating grass and leaves, so there is little difference to grass fed beef, in my mind...Very little fat, though as @Robson Valley says. This years haul was like...

    Elk/Moose hunt, 2020 Ed.

Last year I had no luck at all, when it comes to the elk/moose hunt. Either the wrong animal or it took of in the wrong direction. For the first time since I started, I didn't get to shoot. Ah, well... So, along comes 2020. What could go wrong, really... Well, from a hunting perspective it...

    Grouse hunting

Well, the grouse hunt is carried out on government land (above the tree line) so it is more or less open to anyone. The hunting permits are open, but Swedes need to have Hunters training (Jägarexamen) in order to get a gun license and National hunting license (Statligt jaktkort) which is a...

    Grouse hunting

It's been a while, to say the least, since I've been visiting BCUK so I thought I'd bring something to the table. Here are some pics from the now annual grouse hunt with my cousin. We tried our luck outside of Jokkmokk. We had all types of weather, more or less....no snow though, even if it...

    SVEA stove

I have got the 123R and the older 123. Great stoves. Real work horses. They do require pre-heating and they dont produce the same ammount of heat as a Optimus Polaris/Nova, for instance. That said, my 123 sees more action than my Nova. Couldn't be happier with it!

Down bag for Scandi winter use, suggestions please

Choosing a couple of blankets instead of a sleeping bag isn't really practical....and the reasons beeing fear of death(wt*?) is simply raging alarmism. Also, funny in a way. I'd look for bargain amongst the big brands or get a custom made from www.roberts.pl Greger

I think they were produced by the Swedish company Sacci (but I am not 100% sure on that). I think thet are quite easy to find still - http://cdn.rodastjarnan.com/vaskor-och-ryggsackar/uppdragssack-m90-svenska-forsvaret-jagarsack-29009

Planning Can anybody recommend a Canoe travel company in Sweden?

That would be Ranea river. Check out ranea.river at Instagram...not specifically canoe related. Just pics along the river (that starts outside Dundret, Gallivare) Greger

    Sushi?

My experiences is that the hard part is making a good sushi rice...getting it cooked just perfect and getting the sugar/vinegar mix just right....Sounds simple, but I haven't hit the sweet spot yet...The toppings are easy...anything really, according to a japanese shushi bar owner I know. I like...

    Sami pouch

No. Just no. I can't say for absolutely certain that there aren't any made with some leather from the scrotum in all of Sapmi...my grandparents, at least, did not do it that way.

Where will your spirit take you in 2019?

I want revenge!! A friends bum knee thwarted my passing cross Sarek. This year though!! Thinking of doing a solo trip, but I am not sure I can make it. The physical ordeal - not a problem - but 10 days of not talking to anyone ...hmm
