Multimat not holding air? - no puncture

Thanks, I will try putting it in some water to see if the valve is leaking. Its losing all of its air. I was testing out a new sleep system outside at home the other night using this mat. It deflated completely. Good job I was at home! This was the first self inflater I bought. I'll...

Multimat not holding air? - no puncture

Can someone advise as to what might be the problem with my self inflating multimat. I've had my multimat stored away for quite a few years in its stuff sack. I know it worked the last time I stored it away, but now i have got it out after a long time it won't hold air. Any suggestions...

Price of alcohol fuel in Spain vs U.K

I am all ears as to these many things. Aside from consumer electronics, I do not find many more things expensive in Spain. From my experience it is exactly the opposite. The pound goes further in Spain in non-tourist environments

Snow on the BBC weather forcast.

Yes, about 3-4 inches here in north Notts. For one moment when I went outside to throw out some rubbish I felt glad not to be in a bivvy or something similar!

Price of alcohol fuel in Spain vs U.K

Ok it seems that you can get the price down if you buy in bulk from the trade, but imagine how much it would be if you bought from the trade in Spain. However that's missing the point. Purchasing 5L at a time is a big hassle compared to walking into the local hardware shop and grabbing a small...

Price of alcohol fuel in Spain vs U.K

This seems more appropriate! It seems like Britain wears a cap saying "Charge us more, we won't complain." I initially thought there was some tax on meths but it seems it becomes exempt after the additives have been added to the ethanol. I can understand it being a tad more expensive here but...

Price of alcohol fuel in Spain vs U.K

I've recently converted to using alcohol stoves for brew making and simple cooking. Before I moved to Spain about 4 years ago I used to use gas or hexi tabs and I was not aware of the price of meths for alcohol stoves. I am currently in the U.K for Christmas and it shocked me to see the price of...

    Thanks for the warning!

    Wrapping up in a tarp?

I would love to see this in action. Finding it hard to picture it in mind. You can´t get anymore minimal than rolling with just a poncho! But some lightweight bivvy bags are not much stronger than a tarp?

    Wrapping up in a tarp?

Thanks for the advice. I never considered the breathability factor. I suppose wrapping up in tarp could be used at a push where its not suitable to pitch a tarp.

    Wrapping up in a tarp?

I am trying to find out if I can substitute a tarp for a bivvy bag. I mostly like to bivvy with a lightweight poncho/tarp for a bit of cover over the head and shelter from the wind. After watching a few videos on youtube of some people making a sort of fajita wrap using their tarp, i wondered if...

Honey Stove Ti wood burner video review

Hats off for for producing this on home turf. Many would not even attempt such a venture. They would rather employ Yin kwok to make them after his lunchtime noodles, somebody they will probably never meet and care not whether he works with eye goggles or not. He's cheap though!

    Beccoming an Inspirational Speaker

Don't try to be inspirational or uninspirational. Just say what you have to say openly and honestly. Integrity itself is inspirational and enough to hold the attention, and if its a subject you feel passionately about then more energy will manifest spontaneously. You need not force it.

What draws you to the woods?

I must confess, I too lean on the side of being high up in the hills if given the choice, but it's a close one! The reason I used the term 'woods' specifically was that this being a forum about all things bushcraft, I thought it more appropriate. You can't really practise bushcraft up in the...

What draws you to the woods?

The woods appears to be a massive place of retreat then, somewhere to switch off and recharge. This makes sense nowadays. We are continuously bombarded from outside pressure to 'consume'. Shop, buy and die...and don't forget, Christmas is just round the corner! The woods don't pressure us like...

What draws you to the woods?

What draws you to nature, or more particularly the woods? Do most people just enjoy being out there doing their 'bushcraft thing', or do people have other reasons for enjoying the woods apart from bushcraft, such as enjoying the peace and solitude the woods naturally offers - a welcome break...

    11-11-11

Salutations to the hereoes back in the day! Now what they did was the removal of a "real" oppressive regime. Not some made up garbage like we constantly find today so that their resources may be grabbed or canal controlled. They were the genuine heroes
