I'm looking for a new set of pans (for one person tho often hungry) for hanging over a fire and standing on a honey stove. I'm wondering about the Mil-com set http://www.greenmanbushcraft.co.uk/outdoor-kitchen/mil-com-billy-can-nesting-set.htm Has anybody used them and if so are they any...

    Fancy a Knitting Project?

I've been reading a book about the English Civil War that contains several references to "Monmouth Caps" as worn by the common soldier. Apparently they were felted and very warm. I've just found some information and a pattern. It doesn't tell you about felting, which is easy to do in a washing...

    Group Shelter

Hope this is the right forum. It's a group shelter that I've built. Best told in pictures. Be happy to answer any questions if there are any. 1. The plan. Blue dots are upright posts. Green lines are cross bars and the red dot is the fire pit. Each green bar (except the doorway at the...

    Laplander Carrier

I'm surprised nobody commented on this when I included it in another post. The only Laplander carriers i've seen are pouches which seem bulky, and expensive in terms of leather so I came up with a streamlined version that works brilliantly. It would be better if it had a press stud on the belt...

I bought some on ebay but they're rubbish whilst buying them from Leprevo or Tandy is too expensive as I only need 1. Does anyone have a few they can send me? I'll pay for them plus the p&p. PM me if you can help.

    First Knife and Sheath

Here's a pic of my first knife and sheath project. I've since made a simple carrier for a Laplander folding saw (may post some pics later to see if anyone thinks such a thing has commercial value), and am presently pondering on a design for a Possibles Pouch. Can you tell I've got leather to use up!

    Man seeks southern camp

Does anyone know of a place within about 50 miles of Southampton where I can set up camp for a night or two this weekend (17th & 18th Jan 09)? Fire essential. Vehicle access preferred but I have been known to walk before so I guess I could do it again if I have to.

    Llangollen Meet

THIS IS NOT A NEW THREAD - It's a poster for a thread somewhere else that might interest you. Hi I've started a thread in the main body of Meetups under the title of 'Llangollen Group'. I've set three dates for meets - late June, mid July and early August - with a view to forming a membership...

    Llangollen group

Hi All This thread takes up from the 'Next Delamere' thread in which the idea of a meet in a wood near Llangollen was suggested by me. Also suggested was the use of the meet as an opportunity for people to see the wood in the flesh and to discuss forming some kind of 'membership of users' which...

Help with Cleaning a Tatonka Tarp

My nice new tarp has been properly christened with two weeks in the woods so is very grubby - general dirt, dog foot prints (they jumped on it the moment it came out of the bag), bird droppings and a drop of pine resin. Any suggestions for cleaning it properly. I have brushed it but wondered...

    Where to get blade blanks

Can anyone tell me where I can order blades from? I'm not looking for anything fancy - just working on my first knife handle and wanted to buy a Mora style blade to fit it too. I'm dubious about the short tang so don't want to use a blade from an existing clipper.

    Axe Wedge Question

I've just re-helved a hatchet with a 14" hickory handle. I've inserted an ash wedge the length of the eye and want to also add a metal wedge or two. Can anyone tell me of a supplier for such wedges and if they have a particular name? Searching the net under 'axe wedges', 'metal axe wedges' etc...

    North Wales and Marches Meet

Myself and a couple of others from BCUK are planning a meet in an 18 acre wood (complete with its own spring) for the last weekend of October - Friday 26 to Sunday 28 - in the Vale of Llangollen (about 10 miles south and slightly west of Wrexham) and we wanted to gauge interest. There's plenty...
