SAT Burner Lid Seal Issue - Help!

As for the part about the wick going dry, thats unheard of to me. The burners were always stored dry when I did my national service. The wick is pure cotton, afaik.

The chinese had a peculiar one wheeled cart described in this article. I recommend anyone to poke around the site too. Lots of other interesting ideas. http://www.lowtechmagazine.com/2011/12/the-chinese-wheelbarrow.html

    Sweden Advice Skavsta Area.

Check this description of this leg of the trail. http://www.sormlandsleden.se/fly-walk/skavsta-nykoping.aspx If you take a left and cross the river at the runestones before entering the town, you will be led up to Hovrasjön and a fixed shelter. PM me if you need additional info.

    Sweden Advice Skavsta Area.

Theres a marked trail called Sörmlandsleden that passes skavsta. I havent walked those parts myself but Im positive yoi would be led through nice parts of the countryside with plenty of wild camping spots as well as a few fixed shelters

    Tree species

Around here a common practice is to leave felled oak stems as bio caches. Dead oak is useful to a range of insects. Might be worth checking out the purpose of those lumps before nicking them.

    Canvas Swedish (m39?) question

The canteen you see is most likely attached to the soldiers belt. As for the hooks I hear they are for attaching a pulk.

Adding midge net to bivy bag?

I spray my headnet with repellant to stop the tiny buggers getting through. Theoretically the holes are big enough for them to crawl through, but they never land to find out.

What do you eat for breakfast?

I bought two of those, and still have one in the garage somewhere. The first I tried didn't taste all that great to me, but I just heated it in a water bath, so didn't expect much. Could you please share your preferred method for cooking it?

    Optimus Hiker Plus

Congrats on a new toy! We should all cherish the few and far between moments in life that can invoke those same feelings of joy, as did the Christmas presents of childhood :) Can I suggest you start out with a less extreme choice of fuel? Kerosene perhaps? I know some modern stoves are...

    DIY folding saw?

Maybe blades for tiger saws is a good source for this project? You'd be able to swap them out for metal/bone cutting too if need be.

    Swedish ww2 Parker

The M59 uniform had a "beaver tail" in the back of the field jacket, that would connect to buttons in the front. I guess the purpose of this "flap" connecting front and back between the legs was to prevent the jacket from riding up the torso in certain situations, and maybe some wind protection...

    Recommend me a gas stove

If you're going for gas and remote canister, you should make sure to get one that can take the gas in liquid feed mode. Usually that means the burner will have a preheat tube across the top. About china stuff: nothing general to be said about the manufacturing of a whole country. I've got some...

Adding Water to Meths for Trangia Stove

You're right Janne, it's not recommended for winter use. It's for summer when the burner gets hot fast and most of the burn-time will be in "turbo-mode", with lots of heat going to the crows, and carbon buildup on the pans. As for efficency, it's not as simple as opening up the throttle...

Adding Water to Meths for Trangia Stove

In the land of trangias (sweden) this has been the talk of the next level users for donkeys years. The way I figure, it's because the common fuel here is ethanol with additives. That actually benefits from a dash of water. It will calm the combustion down and makes for less soot, i.e. cleaner...

    What hat is this?

To me it looks exactly like the swedish beanie 'Olles bror'. It was plentiful among all the other swedish surplus around in the end of the nineties. Didn't Ray sport a swedish m59 shirt around the same time, early series? I've not seen one in stores for a while, but plenty of knock offs...

    Optimus Hiker Plus

From what I hear over at CCS, the hiker+ is a bit of a turd. Heavy and bulky like the old stoves, but none of the old reliability.

    Swedish Coat I.D. please

I think it's the m39-58 judging by the different hue rear pockets. Added to make it compatible with the m58 system. Unless I'm mistaken and the navy/coastal artillery used a different model number for it. Then Janne might be on the money. A fairly useful piece of kit. Getting more scarce at...

    M65 jacket advice.

Well, you can't beat the Alpha for durability. I've had mine for 10+ years, and many of those years it's been an everyday garment, autumn, winter, spring. Granted I've never worn it as a woods-jacket, but after all these years draped over chairs, and dragged throught closing doors of trains and...

    Pinewood Clothing

I've got a pair of pants from them since maybe 6-8 years. They keep going, but the flaps for tightening the legs are loosing their stretchiness. I do get the impression (from squeezing stuff in the store) that some of their stuff is a bit lower quality workmanship. Probably they cut their...

    zippo pouch

Just two vertical slits in the one back panel works too. Means the lighter will rest against the belt but no real harm in that.
