Another possibility might be a Silent generator. I've heard (!) the Honda Suitcase ones have a good reputation but are spendy. Most will do 240VAC or 12VDC... Cheers Bryan

Putting a handle on a Polar Blade

If it's too hard for a hacksaw then it's too hard for a file. Not sure about the TCT blades. Again try it and see. If the tang is very hard you might just need to make a notch and then snap the excess off..... You also might want to see if you can pick up a cheap angle grinder (Aldi / Lidl...

Putting a handle on a Polar Blade

Obvious thing is to try. Wrap some tape round the shiney parts you want to protect and have a go. My guess is it will be hard to cut. What sort of hand sander do you have? A (hand) belt sander with a coarse belt (60 or 80 grit or lower) should be able to take a couple of mm of the end of the...

    traditional bush baby fodder?

Think the main issue with kids having adult foods is the amount of salt put into it, as babies can't take too much salt. If you are cooking without salt and adding to taste at the table you should be okay with mashed up stuff. Gravy is pretty bad for salt tho so I'd avoid that... Cheers Bryan

British Red is right, though the new size might be shown as 170.2% depending on how your software/photocopier works.... Cheers Bryan

My little Norway Trip, the highs and woe's. Pic heavy

Great report and very honest :) for me the sign of a great explorer is having the courage to turn back The issues you and bare thrills had collecting water made me think of Samuel Hearnes book "A Journey From Prince of Wales's Fort in Hudson's Bay to the Northern Ocean in the Years 1769, 1770...

    Sabre 45 or predator 45?

Hiya, Yes just measured them. Sabre is 50mm (2") longer in the back. Just taken a quick photo it's not great but the tops are in line and you can see the bottom on the sabre is further down. Do try them both though, rucksack fitting is very personal thing... :p Cheers Bryan

    Sabre 45 or predator 45?

I have both Predator then Sabre My Predator is an issue one which has no belt. I found this to be pain and loosely attached a padded belt but wasn't happy with it. You can get them with a waist belt but it will ride very high unless you have a very short back (I'm 5' 8"). If you don't mind...

    Collapsible wood/hobo stove designs?

Have a look at this thread. I knocked up a nomad stove in an evening. http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99337&highlight=nomad I assume if you can weld you have some metal working skills / tools too, :) you only need a hacksaw, drill and file to make it... Cheers Bryan

How they did things in the past

Funnily enough I'm reading "A tramps sketches" by Stephen Graham at the moment. It is very much at the philisophical rather than practical end of the Genre, but no less enjoyable for it. He certainly has a Rucksack and Wool blanket. I think also Tinderbox / Flint etc for firelighting and he...
