Many thanks to everyone who showed an interest in the pellet bow. I have learned a lot by seeing you all using it for the first time, because several of you were clearly better than I am. I will continue with the project and bring it again next year.

I think this would be of interest to the weavers and basketmakers. I found the presenter a bit annoying after a while but the skills being shown are clear and reproducible.

The pressure release screw is a brass-on-brass seal and doors not use a washer. There might be some crud in there stopping it from sealing so give it a good clean. If you can take it out, look for damage to the surfaces. Replacements are easy to get hold of if it comes to that.
The sparks thrown by a flint and steel are far too weak to get cotton wool going. Only charcloth or very fine charred natural tinders such a punkwood (very light spongy rotted wood) will take the spark. The other key thing is the sharpness of your flint, it has to be very sharp to get good...
