    LT Wright Bushcrafter HC

I had the LT Wright Bushcrafter HC for some time, it is a nice knife but it's not an efficient knife for carving. It's a thin blade but grind-wise it's relatively 'thick'. You'll be disappointed if you expect a Mora's performance. It's not that heavy (195g) and almost as efficient as a Mora...

    Woodlore Knife Pro

Except for it isn't 25º inclusive. It's between 13/14dps, so 25% is probably right then. I checked my own records. Woodlore was listed at 30º inclusive, which was too steep imo.

Uses for hook on a SAK

It's useless until you find some use for it.. I used it multiple times. Some years ago I used the hook (after sterilizing the knife) to drain a small but still painful infected sebaceous cyst at the ear canal of my travel companion (so it was difficult to reach). Then I flushed out the ear...

Question of the century - which axe ?

I don't do much felling with an axe because of that I don't go with a traditional felling profile either. A more hollow profile is good for limbing and chopping, if it's well balanced felling becomes less exhausting but it's not that great for splitting wood. It seems like that in the recent...

    Woodlore Knife Pro

I know that but it's described as 25% edge (quote: "The 25% edge is in my opinion the domain angle for use in temperate Arctic environments."), not 25º. I just wanted some clarification about this because it's not common to give blade angles in %. Mathematically, it would be about 14º. 14º per...

    Woodlore Knife Pro

I want to emphasize on the description of this knife not being a beginners' knife but a knife which is designed by a professional for professionals. I asked Woodlore some simple questions which primarly professionals would like to know but none of those questions got answered because they want...

    O1 Steel edge angle

My O1 knives vary from 18 to 24 degrees inclusive. O1 is a fantastic steel with a high edge stability. Just get the HT right.

    Knife maker

Mark Hill is an incredible knife maker. I'm using my Mora Clone side by side with my Skookum and other handmade knives. It's one of the best knives I've used. His in house heat treatment is spot on. Great knife.

    TBS Boar Bushcraft Knife

IMHO the Grizzly is a silly design. The blade is very thick and the grind too steep.

KA-BAR or Mora for first knife?

Imho the best "bang for the buck" Mora knife is the Mora Companion Heavy Duty. It's a great knife with (at least for me) the best sheath Mora offers (and I own/ed several Moras.. 510, Bushcraft Triflex, Classic, Robust, Companion..). The main differences between the Robust and the Companion HD...

    E-readers... Kobo v Kindle v Nook

Same here. I had the Kindle Keyboard. Now I have the Kindle 4NT, don't think the Paperwhite is the better choice.. it's not a backlight but the LEDs under the frame.. they always remain on when the device is on. Imho the Kindle is one of the best E-Readers out there.. That's.. kind of sad. I...

    budget axe

I had a few Axes from Wetterlings and one from Husqvarna.. I still have a GB SFA and a Fiskars X7. If you're tight on budget or simply don't want to spend much money on an Axe, I can totally recommend the Fiskars X Series.
