So last year I was planning on walking and camping the West highland way, however due to a few people cancelling on me for unforeseen circumstances and others saying they would be up for doing it then not following through I ended up not going. Instead with a friend of mines we had a crack...

Simple question is it worth trying to salvage something off an old leather sofa? There some pretty worn parts but other parts seem pretty good.

Debating whether to sign up but until I decide a wee bump for something that looks like a lot of fun :D

Plenty of places near Edinburgh that you can mess about in :). There are a few wooded areas near Penicuik although they are frequented by dog walkers etc. Travelling a bit further afield would help with this. If you need some locations drop me a PM although the places i know are a bit further...

Thanks for the feedback :) i carved it with a mini carving set that i grabbed of ebay for a couple quid. Thought id post up as a load of the ones i am seeing in threads are AWESOME haha so for any1 that is just starting out ur not alone :) Think i will head out tomorrow and find some more...

Yeah it was crumbling a wee bit making it pretty difficult to do any sort of details...will head out and find some greener stuff tomorrow and see how i get on. Just pleased it looks something resembling a face at the moment haha so will see how i get on with a nicer bit wood :D

Hmmm i did think about it solo However having not done a load of walking and camping i was a bit wary and then seeing the forecast/ snow this morning kinda made up my mind a bit for me haha. I still have about 3 weeks holiday to take before june so will no doubt get another chance to do it :D

Thanks for the comments guys :) Good info there will be sure to plan around that and not rely on it. Hoping that doing it before "summer" will cut down the amount of people on the walk. Got my map delivered yesterday so going to sit down with the other guy and plan stops/camping areas...

So me and a friend are planning on walking and camping the west highland way next month. Looking forward to it a lot and my gear list is coming along nicely. Has anyone else walked the whole route while camping? If so any advice ? :D
