    Carbon Felt?

Santa brought me a Firebox nano for using when either walking or cycle touring. Unlike the 5" Folding firebox that I use for canoe camping, the nano doesn't have ash tray to protect the ground if using on grass. I have looked on line for some carbon felt to stand the nano on but can't find...

    Crusader Mk 2

Hi all. I've been having a look at the BCB Crusader No2 cook set and a question for anyone that's used one. The new cooker unit is now deep enough to take a trangia burner by the look of it, but can it also be used as a wood burner? Cheers all Andy

    Inflatable Mat Puncture

Picked up a pin ***** puncture in my Vango self inflating mat. It's right on a seam and I suspect that a patch won't stick with where the puncture is. Anyone any ideas?? Cheers Andy

    Snake

I was out for a wee paddle today on the Chesterfield Canal and stopped at the Retford Boat Club to have the sarnie. Eyes were drawn to the other side of the canal where I saw a snake, about a foot long, merrily swimming parallel to the far bank. Sun was reflecting off the water so couldn't...

    Candle Lanterns

Hi I have a couple of canoe trips coming up in September and October along loch tay and then down river to Perth and then a few days on Loch Awe. Been looking at a candle lantern for camping each night and just wondered what the general consensus on them was? Andy

    Fitting Whoopie Slings

Evening all I've just purchased my first hammock and hope to test drive it on Sunday night. It's a TW Hornet and I've also got some DD tree huggers and whoopie slings. SO, newbie hanger question is Do I fit the slings direct through the hammock ends or Do I make a loop of the fabric...

    Used Hammock Prices

Really, really thinking about trying a hammock as the ground is getting harder on the old bones, even with a decent mat. I want a tried and tested camping brand, not a adapted garden effort and don't want to spend on a new one to start as due to persistent back problem, I don't know how I...

    Air Matters leak

I have a self inflating Vango mat which has developed a pin hole leak right on the seam. Position means that it's highly unlikely that a patch would stay on. Has anyone sealed this with superglue or something similar. Cheers Andy

    Folding 5" Firebox

I've been having a look at the folding 5" firebox and really like the look of the multi fuel options and set up configurations. Weight isn't a prime issue as it will probably be used more for canoe camping and days out as opposed to light weight long distance walking. Would be interested in...

    Silly Bivvi Bag Question

Having been washed out of my normally trusty vango banishee a couple of times last year, I'm thinking of getting a bivvi bag just in case so that I don't have to shelter under a bottle beer top. Looking at army surplus BUT do they have a zip or do you have to hop about like a solo three legged...

    Reproofing Vango Tent

My tried and tested vango Banshee decided to leak like a sieve on the last outing. To be fair it was gale force wind and driving rain and up until then it had stood up to anything. Does anyone know if if session in the washing machine with some Nik Wax will re proof it ? Cheers
