Its not the best time of year for collecting birch bark, but I managed to get a fairly large piece.
Made myself a part radiator muff for the land rover.
I don't know why I didn't think of birch bark for this before, it seem like a ideal material. Well time & British winter will tell.

Biggest tadpoles I have ever seen
