    God, I love my rucksack!

Rucksacks, stoves, sleeping bags, tents and shelters, boots and trail shoes take up have our attic and all checked once a week at least encase anything goes missing. I have been looking forward to sitting down this Saturday and slowly rubbing oil into the handle of axe all week. Fit to burst.

    How to Get Started

As everyone has said start slow, pic a few things that interest you and work from there. Finding like minded people is a great way of learning and improving. As beginner some of the scout manuals are good for general reference. They often include aspects of all the ways you can enjoy the...

    RM Nanok sleeping bags ?

I have used a Golite Adrenaline 3 for the last two years and found it really good. I personal found it lives up to it's comfort rate, it's not the lightest Down bag out there but at less the 1Kg it good enough. What sold for me do was the Half centre zip as this makes Hammock and Bivvy bag use a...

Scouting for boys - Camp Equiment.

It's not that much different from the basic kit list a Patrol here in Ireland would take. The only difference if you looked in a 1919 patrol box and 2010 one would be the difference in materials used for the equipment and the foods. I think in that sense it's a very interesting list. I bet the...

Hi Andy, TK Maxx a wonderful place for routing out good gear particularly clothing. I bought a Outbound 55ltr pack last year here for 50euro's and it's really comfortable and bombproof and more the big enough. The Swedish army mess kit is a...

How much does your kit weigh?

For average weekend I try to keep it below 15Kg's. The key to weight issue I have found is looking closly at the three main components. The Pack, Sleeping kit and Shelter. I use the 15Kgs as a target as this is the limit for air travel but it does very for seasons as well. This summer for 4...

    Bushcraft in County Tipp!

Hi There, I would have to agree with Raptor on this one. Bushcraft means very little to people other then that fella Ray Mears on the the telly. But if you look you will find people doing bushcraft activities with actually identifing them as such. CELT seems like a good place to start...

    Great containers

Sharwoods Curry Containers. The black ones with the screw on lid. I have used them for loads of thinks including as a PSK container. With a bit of duck tape around the lid it's perfect and a lot lighter then a an old baccy tin. James

    Scouts and Scouters on BCUK

For the moment anyway. It will change similar to yours in age range, but how they present the programme might be different. They do certainly seem to be going out of their way to avoid coping any other country approach. At present technically ventures start at 15 and end at 21 this is nearly...
