Help, recommend hammock spots Derbyshire or Cheshire

You could try Shining Cliff woods at Alderwasley. It used to be owned by the Grith Pioneers & you could get permission to wild camp. Not too sure atm but might be worth a bit of research. Might be worth starting here.... https://shiningcliffhostel.co.uk/

    Canoe looking all forlorn

We solved the putting it onto the car roof issue by buying a trailer. Much easier as we don't have to lift it over our heads. Hope this helps.

    Fjallraven G1000 & Nikwax

Hi, has anyone used Nikwax wax cotton proof on G1000 fabric? If so, did it work ok? Thanks.

Woodland camping around Sheffield - with fires but not essential.

Shining Cliff Woods at Alderwasley just south of Matlock. Permission can be gained from the Grith Pioneers. Cheers :beerchug:

Backpacks/Satchels Made in the United Kingdom

Brady of Halesowen. Great fishing & shooting bags with plenty of character although you will need deep pockets!

    Where to go in Sweden

Hi Emma, Sweden's a big country & generally has something for everyone although I would recommend either Halsingland or Dalarna, lots of forest, plenty of water & a realistic possibility of seeing some amazing wildlife (moose, bear, etc). I've noticed you're from East Anglia, there are good...

    Timber-tongs holster...

Thanks for all your kind comments, it's amazing what a rank amateur can achieve after looking at a few tutorials on BCUK!:thankyou: Yes they are Oregon pulp tongs - the smaller ones. The bigger timber tongs would probably need a holster bigger than my rucksack!!!!:mexwave:

My best friend has gone forever.....

Hi all, I've read all of the kind thoughts here &, yes, it has drawn a tear or two. Rolo was just shy of his eleventh birthday which is quite young for a labrador normally although not with his health issues. I just wanted to thank you all &, if you would like to see a picture or two of Rolo...

My best friend has gone forever.....

At about 3am last thursday I said my last goodbye to the best friend I have ever had as I sat on the floor with him at our local vets. He had had more than his fair share of health issues - hip displasia & diabetes, which required daily injections but he was always happy & loved a game...

    6 days wild camping

I'd be a bit careful about sourcing water from the "wild" mate. The Derwent has warning signs about the dangers of eating the fish due to the pollution in the water from centuries of mining in the area.:yikes:

    A perfect bushcraft gun??

That's the classic "poacher's gun". Growing up in Norfolk most houses had one like it behind the back door. Designed to be folded & concealed under a long coat then brought out to shoot roosting pheasants!

    Ye olde grey squirel

I'd get an air rifle! Seriously, they're very effective (with a scope & decent pellets) & unlike traps/snares you only kill what you see.

    Wedding Celebrations? Not Quite!

Yes mate it is! Thanks, the zoo is great but the wildlife close to the house is pretty awesome too. We've seen Moose, Roe Deer & Red Foxes & I'm told that there is now a family of Bears been seen in the area! Thanks for looking & commenting.:You_Rock_

    Wedding Celebrations? Not Quite!

I must confess, although I live in the UK - a country that still has a constitutional monarchy - I have occasional republican leanings. It's only the thought of President Blair that reinforces my reluctant belief that the current status quo should be maintained. Anyway, enough of that stuff...

    Jack Pyke jackets?

After my recent foray to Norfolk I find I am in need of a waterproof coat for shooting. I don't want to spend a fortune & therefore have been looking at the Jack Pyke range. I know a few members here will have used Jack Pyke kit & our own Mr Fenna has reviewed their clothing in the shooting...

    Norfolk Pigeons

In my quest for reasonably priced pigeon shooting without the need for a load of quasi-feudal cap doffing etc. I've found another fantastic opportunity which I thought I'd share. My search started with e-bay, I placed a bid & found myself with a day's roost shooting for £20.00! I popped down to...

    Yellowstone

Hi Mate, been there a couple of times with Mrs Labrador. We have always flown into Calgary & rented a truck camper for the trip (plenty of space & goes anywhere). How long are you going for? Let me know if there's anything I can help with? Cheers, Labrador
