standing dead wood combined with birchbark should normaly be enough.
the mistake i made most often is not harvesting enough bark and small wood to get the fire started.
rule of thumb, get what you think you need and then double that.
horizon should be easily replaced with a plumb-bob,set squares are easy to get.

i see you stitch the bark, ray mears used a kind of notches on a container, is there a reason to use one over the other aside from taste?

in my experience its al about trying to stay warm and dry as much as possible, by the time youre cold wet and miserable bushcraft becomes survival.
