My thought was for day-trips, when I'd only want to boil water for a brew/instant soup - it was the flatness I fancied. Though for such purposes, a smaller version would probably suit me better.

You can get little tiny zip lock bags from supermarkets - they're intended for sweets or snacks in kid's packed lunches. They are perfect for making up your own brew bits. Take them home with you after use, wash them, turn them inside out to dry and re-use.

That's a lovely bit of work! Was the finished kuksa boiled in brine or was it the wood, pre-carving? What does boiling in brine do?
