    Fuizion freeze dried food

I thought I'd give my impression on the Fuizion freeze dried meals that I bought for the winter hike I did. I'm going to rate these meals as I would food that I'd get at home as it's what I'm most familiar with. Why Fuizion? I decided to give Fuizion a go as I'd seen good reviews and read...

    Lingo Differnces

Not sure if it's particular to Plymouth/Devon but "chatty" always meant dirty, turns out when I went uni nobody from other parts knew, e.g. my boots are chatty, I need to clean them. My nan calls woodlice - granfergrigs. My grandad, dad and aunties often call young girls "maid", e.g. poor maid...

    Best Torch?

Hmm tough question, I'm not aware of a torch that will do everything I want. My current combo is a Zebralight H600 which I use most of the time walking or around camp, if I need some hand held throw I bring along my Solarforce L2P with an XML-U2 drop in.

    DIY Woodburner

That's a really cool stove, the window on the side is great as everyone knows the best part of fire is seeing the flames :) I wouldn't have thought the window in the side was polymer, the best high temperature thermoset polymers only go up to about 400C. It'll have to be some sort of glass...

    Escaping with Paracord

I agree with you on the whole but if you're sliding at a constant speed then forces are balanced (unbalanced forces mean acceleration), so sliding at constant speed means the force is the same as when you are static :) Also I read in another post somewhere in here that someone said the breaking...

    Escaping with Paracord

I'd be quite hesitant to use paracord, doesn't it only have a 550lb breaking strength? Knotting depending on the rope or cord can reduce the strength by up to 50% so lets say 275lbs as a worst case, if the paracord was old too it'd be reduced further through abrasion and UV, I don't know what...

    survival tin

I agree with the people suggesting to ditch the snare in fact lose anything to do with catching food, in the UK you'll never be in a survival situation long enough to need to need it as rescue is usually within 48 hours tops. Much more useful would be some water purification tablets, foil...

    Best Hammock Tarp system?

Hammocks are a matter of prefrence really, there are different types and even with different manufacturers of the same type you may prefer one over another. The best advice is to try other people's out and see how you get on with them. As for tarps, there are different styles and materials, all...

    What did you buy today?

Indeed, it seems quite good, I have a Guide 10+ battery pack so I'm going to see how it fares hung from my tent roof to illuminate games of cards etc. on the dark winter nights.

    Kit cleaning

I hear 50:50 vinegar and water helps to kill musty smells quite well, in fact I'm just trying it now, I have some of the black spotty mould on my tent inner so I put it up and sprayed it with the vinegar mix. I'm hoping it'll kill the spores and then I'll just throw it in the washing machine...

    Mother Nature? Oh, please......

I do understand where you're coming from, attributing human consciousness and a sense of purpose to nature is a bit strange as there there isn't one thing controlling it all. However the forces of nature coming together is such a seemingly random and often incomprehensible thought it's often...

    Teach me about GPS!

To be honest the only use for a GPS I've found is keeping in a corner of my pack in case on the off chance I to find my exact location in an emergency. I still navigate with a map and compass.

A detailed look at the Warbonnet Ridgerunner, and a Chicken.

I'm tempted to sell my BMBH for this as the spreader bars seem much wider and the depth shallower so shoulder squeeze should be less. :)
