I just purchased an trapper blade in Elmax and noticed that the bevel is a different length at the tip compared to the choil end.
I assume this is as it's ground from the same direction even as the blade starts to curve compared to always being ground 90degree to the bevel.

I have just bought 3mx1.5m of fabric to make a tarp. I was just going to make a rectangle. But after some googling I have noticed that many people add curves between the tie down points which makes sense to keep it taunt without slack parts.

Does anyone know if the RWL34 steel gives of a descent spark on a Ferro rod? Or how comparable it is to 01 steel which gives off loads of sparks.

What tips do you guys have on keeping rust at bay on carbon blades during prolonged wet weather?
I've recently been away for a month with a lot of rain and not much was drying was able to be done.
it seems that once the leather sheath is wet trying to keep a knife from rusting becomes pretty...
What methods do people use to split wood when out and about with an axe?
So thinking up to 4-6", or what you would cut by hand
and with no splitting blocks or any pre made aids as you would have at home

Great condition compass, has had very little use so the base plate in relatively mark free and all the colour is in excellent condition

I have my much loved and used Ben Orford woodlands it has a 3" blade and is made from 3mm O2 steel with a leather sheath. The handle is made from British elm.

I've ordered some rip stop nylon to make some hammocks, its 35gsm so super lightweight. Does anyone know what the best style of stitch is best the hem the edges and make a channel at each end?
