I'm sure you are right. I imagine many campsite owners have no idea what a purpose made stove for a tipi/bell tent is! The idea that I would risk the life of my two year old son and pregnant wife is actually pretty insulting, but I don't tend to take these things too personally :)

Yeah, I'm beginning to think you are right stuey. I understand the reasons behind the no fires policy but am a little surprised this is also applies to stoves.

Can anyone recommend a campsite in the peak district that will allow the use of a wood stove in a tipi? I have phoned a couple and got a straight no. Ideally somewhere near Edale. Thanks

I wouldn't like to say I was more educated than anyone! But in my experience you don't need to oil it :) Just go through the grits till you get the finish you want.

Which side is the bevel on a right handed one? If I hold the axe in my right hand with the head upwards, edge facing away from me, the bevel should be on the right as I look at it.... Right?

It fits! Still need to trim and burnish the edges but had to knock off to pick up the little'un from nursery.

Right, lets make a sheath! I design my sheaths on the computer. This way I can easily repeat them if needed. Here's the paper template taped to the leather. I'm using 3mm veg tanned cow hide. Shape cut out, edges beveled and stitches marked. And dyed, ready for stitching. Not sure what...

Not totally sure what you mean mate. It has a bevel on both sides but no secondary bevel.

Late lunch break and here's where I am up to. Symmetry is so important in a handle like this. I begin by faceting the handle.... Then I basically just keep taking the corners off until I have the shape I want.... Right then, back to it.
