This is slightly off topic and certainly not in the spirit of bushcraft (sorry everyone) but I thought someone here would know what I need to do to make dual burner camping stove like this compatible with disposable camping gas canisters like this. Single burners house them in the underside but...
Can anyone offer advice on a decent and not too expensive lightweight tarp option?
I'm currently using a DD 3x3. It's been great so far and I've had it for about 5 years but I'm now looking for something a little lighter and think a downgrade in size wouldn't be a big deal
DD's ultralight tarp...
So exactly what is the difference? Has the Velez been discontinued and replaced with the Velez Adventure?
Are there any design differences between the 3 aside from the obvious weight reduction on the Adventure Light?
It seems to me everywhere I go the waters are catch and release.
Is it even possible to eat the fish you catch? Does one have to be sneaky about it or am I just never in the right place? I mean... this is Scotland after all.
Does anyone know how to smoke fish over a campfire or perhaps in a pit? Fiancée and I would like to give it a try with some trout.

Assuming you carry shelter, bedding, extra layer, shell, stove/pot and water for drinking on the move but not water for cooking at the camp.
How much would your overnight pack weigh?
I'm sure most of us do not depend solely on food that is specifically marketed towards backpackers so I'm curious about everyone's food prep.
Generally I make sure I have a few packets of Batchelors Pasta 'n' Sauce in the house for those spontaneous nights out.
Dolmio's packets of 'shells and...
Just a quick post about how I turned a sleeping bag into an underquilt in less than an hour with no sewing machine.
Eurohike Junior Voyager sleeping bag £2.40 from Millets (150cm x 70 cm)
40cm shock cord (spare I had lying around.)
Sewing needle & thread.
Grosgain 30cm (spare.)
4 70cm shock...
Anyone use these?
Mountain House is good but REALLY expensive at £5.50 a pack. Reiters is terrible and likely to give you a heart attack after a couple each day.
Are there any other brands here in the UK? I like MOD rat packs but they're a bit heavy to carry around.
Could someone suggest something please? Around the £50 mark is probably what I can afford to spend right now.
It's just for short multiday trips (2 nights or so). I find that my 65L is too big and my 25L daysack is too small. Cheers.
Does anyone know if these are genuine? Quite a few on eBay. Don't know the first thing about water filters as I've always been a sift and boil kind of person.
I've been a frequent visitor of the Pentland Hills these last few years but I find that it's busy almost all year round with very few good spots for tents and even fewer spots for hammocking.
I'd like to take the dog and do an overnight bike or hike in the Lammermiurs.
Anyone know a trail?
Could anyone suggest somewhere to go in Scotland around April? I'm hoping to spend a few days in the wilderness with OH and the dog for some fun.
I don't want to go too far up north. We're just looking for somewhere nice and secluded, preferably with some water close by.
Anyone know a secret...
