    Lowa boots failure

Thats a bog-standard rivet with a fancy-looking eyelet. Easily repaired by a craftsman, if you do not mind that the replaced part will look a bit different.

Bloody colonists ;) and their skewed view of the world

No more Cadbury Dairy Milk http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/news/nation-in-shock-as-cadburys-changes-the-creme-egg-recipe-9971856.html My country (among others) is full of no-go-areas for non-muslims https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_zF7nbEvwY (In fact, in the eastern...

    Self inflating mats reliable?

After two decades behind the counter I would say, Therm-a-rest is quite ok, Exped very much unreliable. Forget the Ul ones, you want the heavier Nylon on the outside. The repair-kits work, but you have to find the hole first. If its really tiny, you are lost.

    Barbour Coat advice

The Beaufort, like all Barbour with Raglan cut, has ridicously short sleeves. Even when sizing up two sizes, they are way too short to protect the wrists, not to mention the hands. The Border is my choice nowadays. My old Northumbria (with the woolen lining they chucked) is way too heavy for...

    The british pub

i havent crossed the channel in nearly 30 years, so my experiences with british pubs may be somewhat clouded an out-of-fashion. Then I stumbled over these articles http://terrybnd.blogspot.de/2014/10/a-rant-end-of-era-dog-and-gun-in-keswick.html...

Your feet shape may be an indication of your heritage

According to my feet, I am something between egyptian and roman. According to my fathers old aryan passport, I am german. So somewhere down the line the old saying "mater semper certa est" seems to hold the truth ;)

Bad weather coats / jackets which actually cover your butt

Clothing for Rambler, Hillwalker is what you may look at. British brands still cater for them. The stuff one usually gets in the outdoor shops is designed for extreme climbers or the shopping mall: tight fit and very short. The mentioned swedish M90 is perfect for winter. I wear it very often...

    Waterproof Recommendations

Isnt it odd that an expensive "breathable" fabric works really good only with "sophisticated holes" cut into it?

    "Cotton Kills"

A year ago I swithed from polycotton trousers to cotton ones as everyday wear. Warmer, if its cold and not so sweaty when the temperatures rise. The civilian version of the german army trousers, the sell for a measly € 25,- and outlast my formerly worn way too expensive Fjallraven trousers. Have...

Whats your favourite piece of winter clothing?

My hands are that way, too. These days. I wear baselayers with long arms and thumb holes. The warmer wrists make my fingers much warmer.

    The "lumbersexual"

Real men dont wash. Sweat, mixed with the skin´s natural oils, makes waterproof and keeps warm. :) Real men also do shave, but in a manly way, with a straight razor. :)

    The "lumbersexual"

Choose a popular hipster-crowded spot for lovingly sharpening the edge of said axe. Report afterwards of the reaction of the puplic.
