    Motor bike test need advice.

I took my test a few years back, and I suppose that taking it was the next 'goal' for me after I had finished Uni at 48. Now I ride every day, I have 5 bikes in total including a 650 thumper, and riding is totally addictive. Ok, you will get wet in really bad weather, and you might get cold if...

    tin candle holder

Not sure whether they are any use to anyone, but my housemate smokes hand rolled cigarettes, so we have a few tobacco tins hanging around. The hinged ones (Cutters Choice) (l/w/d) 155mm x 85mm x 28mm, and will hold 3 x 5 1/2" candles. I am happy to send FOC the 4 she has just given me to 4...

    The Wide Blue Yonder

One of my favourite places last year was Dumphries and Galloway. As long as you stay fairly near the coast, it shouldn't be too hilly. And once camped up, you could always pop out on the bike to look at some local areas that are :)

    New 'Go Outdoors'-Newcastle

Yup, all their tents are on display in a yard out the back of the store. They have had to keep the door closed, and the area out of bounds, for 'health and safety' reasons as the site was covered in the white stuff since just after they opened. I've been there a few times now, although I haven't...

    Aldi/Lidl handwarmers

B&M do these for 79p a pair. I bought a few pairs last year and although I tend to keep a pair on me when out in the cold, they are never intended to be anything other than a brief warm up. I also regularly throw both pairs into my sleeping bag with me when it's cold, just to take the chill off...

    Tipi poles

That would fit with the lengths I suggested in my above post, as the site I quoted from was showing long poles :)

    Tipi poles

I don't know if it helps Jack, but Wenka Tents (a German company on eBay) advertise 3m (10ft) Tipis for which they recommend a set of 7 main plus 2 smoke flap poles (so 9 in total) of 4.2m poles with a widest end at 6cm. They also do a 4m (13ft) Tipi which requires a total of 13 poles (11 main...

    New Sheaths

They look lovely:) I've not done any leather work so far, so I've just asked a few questions elsewhere :o
  14. D

    Making a Sheath?

I've a few questions if that's ok. (I have looked but couldn't find the answers anywhere obvious) 1. Are there any particular types of leather you should use for different jobs? i.e what animal is best for sheaths? 2. What thickness should that leather be?

    Any bikers here???

I went camping four times this year on my F650 :D I found that it was fine on the motorways as long as you didn't want to do more than 85, which in this country should be fast enough  I even found that in bad weather, the dual purpose was actually better on the motorways than my CBR...

    Arctic 2010 Exped attendees discussions

I'm not off on this trip, however, as we're giving tips on possible good buys, I bought a few pairs of 'Heat Holders', which are socks with a claimed thermal rating of 2.34 tog, today. I have been wearing a pair in my Trespass hiking boots for about 7 hours now, and have found them to be very...
