    Folding handle pan

I have an old crepe pan that I've used for years, it's beautifully seasoned now. Packing the pan was always a bit of a niggle, because of the handle catching on other bits of kit, and I don't like attatching kit to the outside of my pack. So I decided to make the handle foldable. Using an angle...

    Natures efficiency.

I hadn't realized this before. Why waste energy defending what is not being attacked.

    Wanted plastic crusader/ bcb mug.

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone had a black plastic mug, for the crusader cook kit. Looking to complete my own. I have a nice leather belt dangler, made by Sonni of 'Beneath The Stars Leathercraft' to trade.

    Homemade Dutch oven/Potjie lid lifter.

I wanted to make a lid lifter for my groups 2 Dutchies, using bits of wood and gloved hands was getting a pain. So I thought I'd put my near non existent metal bashing skills to the test. So a bit of roadpin, a bit of gas torch and a touch of welding, I ended up with something functional. Any...

    Four nights out.

A few pics of my recent four nights out. I headed off to Suffolk last Wednesday for a meet with the Suffolk bushcraft group, to make the most of this fine spell of weather here. Using half of my size one Polish poncho and Bushcraft Spain extension panel, i set up camp in a quiet clearing in the...

    DIY wood gas stove.

I made this wood gas stove from a couple of tins I had lying around, a bit of fun for an hour or so. It works surprisingly well, bringing 300ml of water to a boil in six minutes. The tins I used were a baked bean tin and a large soup tin, although any other suitably sized containers will do...

    Trip Report Lovely long weekend.

Had a fantastic four nighter over the long weekend, with some of the guys from the Suffolk Bushcraft Group. Setting up camp on the Thursday in warm sunshine, is always a bonus. Friday had rain from midday till 2am, Saturday thunderstorms all afternoon, which soon turned the tracks into quagmire...

    Weekend in Suffolk.

Had a great weekend in the woods in Suffolk. Very mixed weather, but stayed dry under DD XL tarp. The recent high winds had caused a fair bit of damage, and the rain had made it pretty muddy. Still three nights out, are good for the soul.

    RIP Mike Smith.

It is with a heavy heart that I say Mike passed this morning, friend and bushcraft buddy. Mike had a great sense of humour and a great knowledge of the outdoors. I met Mike 13 years ago through the Suffolk Bushcraft group, and we soon became friends. Although he wasn't active on BcUK, some of...

    Cold three nighter in Suffolk

Just back from a three night camp in a wood in Suffolk. The weather was shall we say bracing. All was good though using the Adirondac wind shack. A little rain on saturday night, but packed up dry this morning. A very welcome and much needed break.

3 nights, 3 pitches, 3 setups with a cheap plastic tarp.

Had a great time out in the woods last weekend. I had set myself a challenge of using mostly, repurposed and homemade kit. Homemade/Repurposed kit included... Camp knife, made from an old circular saw blade. General purpose knife, made from a broken paring knife. Two lanterns, one from a jam...

    Home made packframe seat

I thought I'd challenge myself on my next trip out, and use a mostly home made and repurposed kit. I've had the old Bergans pack with a broken frame lying around for years, so I didn't mind scavenging it for parts for this project. I'd seen something like this on a German website, and thought...

    Three Nights in Suffolk

A few pics of my three nighter in lovely bit of woodland in Suffolk. I was able to bring along a few extra creature comforts, as the woodland was only a kilometer or so from the car, a camp bed can be a blessing these days. The Barley was waist high and golden, and the weather was mostly...

    King Alfreds cakes on Maple?

Found this big boy on a long dead Maple at the end of the garden. about 3" top to bottom. I've only seen them on Ash before, hence the question. looks like it has blown it's spores, judging by the sooty look around it.
