Can any of the members here tell me about this surplus Dutch

I just received one and can not believe how roomy it is. It is in like new condition.

I have used a bedroll a few times for day hikes in the fall and they are useful, but very limited. I do it more for a feeling of nostalia than anything. Here is some info on them. They are a little Civil War heavy, but worth the reading.

I just discovered the BCB Crusader kit online and I have a lot of quesitons about it.
Who here uses one? How do you like it? Can it only heat for coffee and tea, or could you use it to cook other foods? How well would it cook soup?
Can you pour denatured alcohol into the cooking unit...
Probably old news to most here, but I just discovered this use for a blanket.
I just tried it with my surplus Italian Wool blanket (92x62) that I bought for under $20.
It is amazingly comfortable.
Has anyone here tried it in the bush?

I was looking at my surplus Swedish Stove kit yesterday (stainless steel, with windscreen and Svea meth stove) and wondered if anyone had tried flipping the windsceen upside down and used it to burn wood.
The open where the handle inserts is not very big, but you could place small twigs in it...

They look like an excellent pack to attach a large sleeping bag to on cold nights.
The pack looks small, but would carry the essentials. Anyone use one of these?
I have been collecting poems and stories about the wild. I read them to my kids while we are out camping. I thought I would share one with you in case you like to memorize such things and tell them around the camp fire some night.

I have several of these packs and have used them when I am able. I have used them mostly for day hikes and for several weekend trips.
I hope this thread can be used as a tool to get the most you can out of the pack and that people can share some tricks or tips they have learned to get the...
Hello all!
Could I order Bushcraft Magazine even though I live in the states, and would it be applicable?
I did not know if it focused more on one region of the world, or just Bushcraft in general.
Thank you for the help.
I have several Svea stoves and was wondering if they will work in conjunction with Trangia accessories and cooking kits?
Is the Svea larger than the Trangia? Will the Trangia caps fit on a Svea?
Will a Svea work in some of the collapsable windscreens (Westwind)?
Will the Svea fit...
I know the Swiss, Germans and French used a quarter-shelter garment as an outer shell is past wars.
Has anyone here used one instead of a regular Poncho?
How did you like it?
Where did you purchase it?
Do you think they have merit?
Thank you.
In a local surplus store they are selling British DPM gaiters. They are gore-tex, have a metal cable with rubber straps.
I could not for the life of me figure out how they fit under my boot. The cable seems way too long. I know there must be a way they fit, I just could not figure it out...

They are 100% compatible with the swedish 35L pack (and USGI ALICE pack). Incredibly comfortable and well made.
I have also used these with great success - They are much cheaper but function perfectly:

Hello and Merry Christmas everyone!
I just came across a "Long - British 58 pattern" Sleeping bag.
Is it a good sleeping bag? What temperature is it rated for?
I am 6'4" tall - will it fit me?
Anyone have any first hand experience with it?
Any information on this bag would be...

I hope all of you can help me.
I am looking for an ax that will fit the exterior straps of my Swedish 35L pack.
It must be sold in the United States,
It must have a blade cover,
and it must fit inside both of the loops on the back of the pack.
Can anyone make a suggestion?
I have heard about this "beast" for years. Pit Bulls and German Shepards have been reported to "disappear" do to this animal over the years......It sounds like something out of a Stephen King story.
Interesting story with pictures. I thought you might be interested.

Hello all,
I love my Swedish 35L day pack, but I would love to find a larger one. Does anyone here know of a website (in English) that sells the LK 70 packs?
I would really appreicate it if someone could help me find a few.
Thanks all,
Ridge Runner
Well, I inherited 40 acres of beautiful land in northern Maine and will travel to it next week for some camping and hunting.
I plan on parking my car off to the side of the road and will be exploring my new land.
It is heavily forrested, with two fields and several logging trails cut...
