    Bergans Morgedal Backcountry Anorak- Opinions

Nordmarka is polycotton - Morgedal EPIC. I have a Nordmarka and like it much - very serviceable, well cut, excellent hood - works well in my layers system and for my purpose - nothing really outstanding in it, just good all around.

    Ray baking bread

I don't think I'll have any outing before Christams break - not any where I can make an open fire that is. But next time I'll snap some pics. My normal pot is a alpkit 700ml titanium and I normally just do heavy soups. I take the crusader when I want to do more cooking, have a second pot with...

    Ray baking bread

Last time it did a small bread simply in a crusader cup. Burried the cup in embers laying on its side, put some more coals on top. Worked fine, not picture perfect but good enough for me. Did not even have a lid.

    Environmental vandalism

Note that cutting rhododendron might actually worsen the issue a few years down the road. The local wood near my place also has some areas well under threat and I did cut a few (also does nice spoon wood - because of shapes and takes a lovely color when oiled). Then I went reading a bit more and...

    Millbank Bag

I tried 1 micron biodiesel bags. Bought bigger ones and cut various shapes in them to create cones. Tried to increase column pressure by assembling a water bag, plastic tubing and put a filter piece at the end. It never worked properly. They clog up very quick. Even with clean tap water after a...

Article: Pooping Perfectly in the Woods

In summer foxgloves (digitalis) leaves are excellent: softer than paper, do not need burning and do not go to shred when it is wet or raining. Far superior to toilet paper.

Looking for help and advise for a hike on Dartmoor

Great to see it take up. Would be lovely to have a few days of socialization ;) Unfortunately I arrive on a Sunday evening, worst choice possible. Last bus 39 leaves at 19:40. With train arriving at 19:39 it is just enough to tease me!

Looking for help and advise for a hike on Dartmoor

Cheers guys! Would be in Exeter Aug 5th at 19:18 or in Newton Abbott at 19:39. I would not mind at all one or a few days with like-minded fellows! Would still like also a few days on my own - not being antisocial but I guess you know the feeling too. So a mix would be perfect. I realize it...

Looking for help and advise for a hike on Dartmoor

Just noticed the Newton Abbot is actually a bit closer to Postbridge than Exeter so that makes it an option too. Don't see a train option to arrive in Ivybridge on Sunday.

Looking for help and advise for a hike on Dartmoor

Hi I'm planning a 5-6 days hike on Dartmoor in August. I will be coming from France and my Eurostar gets in London Sunday Aug 5th mid afternoon so I cannot be in Exeter/Newton Abbot on time to get a bus to the Moor. I might end up taking a cab to around Postbridge. The nice alternative would...
