After reading these I went out and plucked the suspected shot wound - found no entry hole what so ever! unless it is a lot smaller than i imagined; but even so, there was no blood; evidence of bleeding; or even bruising!
I will have another look...
driving back onto my drive today i was confronted with this:

1, Birch - easiest to tell if its downy or silver by looking at the branches. southey's example is good for that. I just remember, 'Downy = uppy (branches)'. Daft, but it works for me. and Silver birchs bot. name is Betula pendula. Pendula = pendulum (sp?) or weeping, reffering to the branches...
Genty, Im finding your instructions on this very clear and understandable! Its proving fantastic for a beginner like myself. However, I'm struggling to understand the 'magnetic variation'.
Also, something i've been thinking, is how you would use natural navigation, i.e. the north star...
Hi, can I just add; the 'Latin' names should really be reffered to as 'botanical' (as previously stated), or 'scientific' names. This is because many botanical names are, incidentally, Latin. But alot are either Greek based i.e Lamium, and some have been named after certain people.
