FYI Osprey MTP bottle pouch vs dutch mess tin.

I wanted a pouch for my dutch stainless mess tin and searched the net wide and far. This Osprey pouch looked like the one for me and I ordered it. Now I want to share the info that the pouch will fit this dutch mess tin. Pouch...

    What did you buy today?

Put in a couple of orders for: -MTP Osprey water bottle pouch, for carrying the stainless steel dutch mess tin + gas burner (hopefully it will fit, it´s a bit unsure). -Tasmanian Tiger bottle holder (for Nalgene bottle + a cup.). Both of these will be attached to the bag in post #5,698 in this...

    Your opinion wanted!

Used the pack yesterday. Had also a back pack with more or less equal amount of weight. It was quite comfortable. Nice weather, about +4C, cloudy and some wind. Walked about 10km, 5 km one-way. At the turning point we made fire and grilled some sausages before heading back home. Had planned to...

If you mean the chest rigg, it´s a mishmash, it´s not a ready-bought kit. Big bag is Kifaru´s Claymore pouch (no longer made) and small sidepouches are also Kfarus. They are attached to older model of Varustelekas lightweight chest rigg...

    Your opinion wanted!

Regarding FAK, I bought the one that is in the video. I have a couple of Grimlocks on the bag for hanging stuff like gloves. One on my jackets is an anorak, 50/50 cotton/polyester:

    Your opinion wanted!

This package seems to be a good basic one for bleeding wounds. And small enough.

    Your opinion wanted!

For now I have nothing in form of FAK. That is apparently one thing where improvement must be done. I have an idea in my head that this is to be a kit for a normal day out int the woods and also give me some shelter if for some freak incident I will not make it home for the night. Storm matches...

    Your opinion wanted!

@Janne This is supposed to be carried with a back pack containing food and water. But this is also an essentials bag that contains the most necessary stuff that can be carried by itself = stuff you can get by with in the woods, giving shelter and fire. Finnish forrests are not huge wilderness...

    Your opinion wanted!

I have built a sort of "survival" essentials chest rigg. So far it contains: -Sissipuukko M95-knife (plastic sheath) -Bahco Laplander saw - 2x heavy duty 300 litre trashbags (for improvised shelter, when cut open one bag is about 2x3m) - about 15m of paracord -10 large zip ties (one use could be...
