    The midgies are back :(

The little blighters seem pretty vicious round here at the moment. Nordic summer keeps them at bay a bit.

    ash dieback

Sorry I haven't been keeping an eye on this thread recently. As an update, I unfortunately had to have our Ash taken down in April this year :( It was located near a boundary fence and a summerhouse and both would have been at risk if it had started to drop branches. I employed a local team of...

The start of the trout season

I have been known to have a go at fluff flinging :) Probably going to rejoin my local fishing club. Only went a couple of times last year and need to learn my new waters. It's a great way to spend a few hours.

    Joining the canoe world.

Well, we took out for our first trip yesterday to Lake Bala. We were only on the water for about 45 minutes, but all went well. Managed to get the canoe on and off the roofrack without any issues. No problems on the water, and Ali really enjoyed it, so a successful day all round. I took a few...

    Joining the canoe world.

GOOD NEWS They have announced that from tomorrow you are allowed to exercise outdoors and have replaced the "stay at home" message with stay local. If you live in a rural area as we do, then "local" means within reason. We live in a mountain village in Snowdonia and there are suitable lakes...

No, still waiting. Thought I would wait till march before chasing them up. As a side issue, I will be having an ash tree taken down soon. If you want some timber for paddles then let me know.

    Meindl Bhutan

We love our Bhutan's. Very comfortable, while still being supportive and waterproof. We had their predecessors Burma's before these for over 10years and covered many miles, so when you break down the cost over their lifespan, they are good value. We just give them the odd coat of nikwax.
