That looks like lovely work. I'm looking to make something similar for my axe. What thickness of leather did you use, any rain why you chose to stitch it as oppose to rivets, anything you would do differently if you had the opportunity to make another one?
I've just purchased a Romanian backpack and bread bag, the leather straps are as stiff as a piece of bread that's been in the freezer for a year!
What do you suggest that will make them more supple?

I tried to strap my 65L karimor alpiniste to the pillion of my Yamaha MT07 with bungees but wasn't very secure so I abandoned that idea. I will have another go.
Yeah, you are right there always seems to be a compromise. Maybe there's a market for moto bushcrafting gear! Water, spark, abrasion resistant.
