    From the house yesterday I saw a sparrow hawk, a pair of goldfinches a hare. Also two buzzards circling high up. Goldfinches are so beautiful and have a pretty tinkling little song and a dancing flight. Appropriately the collective term for them is a charm.

    Not knife related, but I once bought a second hand bike from a farm for my daughter. I handed over the cash, the farmer's wife gave me £1 back. She called it luck money. Apparently they always did it when they sold cattle. I'd never heard of it before.
