    Knife Postage

I remember shipping a heavy weight longbow I made internationally. I was advised that I couldn't send "ammunition".. with it (arrows) or it might be classed as a loaded weapon. Also I should send the string separately just incase someone managed to string the 90lb warbow and found a make shift...

What excites you about spring arriving?

This thread starting is Spring starting in my book :biggrin2: I believe some winters are so much longer than others and it can feel like an absolute fingernail claw to see greener times once again. May not be the milder weather or the lighter nights we crave, may just be a glimpse at some less...

    Cold River cooking

Ayup all. Couple of photos from a quick overnighter. Our kid needed some assistance with laying a floor so he enlisted my self and a few friends. The sweetener being a permission from our better halves to grab a quick night out. Menu was steak n booze. One of the lads better halves was...

Its been a long time since I put needle to leather.

I will admit its been a while since I put needle to nail lol. However awl through webbing eek! I do have an advantage as I do have a splint on one finger due to a snapped tendon but it does make for a good thimble :)

Its been a long time since I put needle to leather.

:) I have roughed out a few nice staves and given them away as blanks for folk to finish. Upon reflection I not sure if that was more generosity or cowardice/avoidance ;) I need to sort out my work space before I can get going again, not to mention putting work into the stave stock which is...

Its been a long time since I put needle to leather.

Hope this finds you all well in 2023. I haven't done a jot of leather work in many many moons so with Christmas just passed I decided to jump back in. I had an axe sheath that was handing by a thread and also a new knife that was being irked by its kydex sheath so these two were to ease my self...

    Kydex assistance please.

Thanks Chris. I was hoping to gently ease into it cost wise but I get that the right tools make the job easier. In regards to foam there is a huge choice on Amazon but will keep reading. Shipping wise I am not getting stuff that's been shipped from within the UK never mind the states, its a...

    Kydex assistance please.

Hi All and Happy new year :) I have decided to give Kydex a go with the aim of making a few leather/Kydex hybrid setups. I have done the usual and watched a few Youtube Video`s so obviously I am now an expert on all things Kydex  Whilst I get the basic principals what I am after is a...

    I am 50

49 and 366 days that is. When you start assigning arbitrary numbers to it the more silly it becomes. I know guys who are 60 and can run rings around me, equally I know guys 5 or 10 years younger than me who have given up on moving with purpose up and are now heading for an uncomfortable or...

Knives you should really dislike, but don't!

I am surprised this hasn't come up yet but for me its the Spyderco UKPK (Original not the cheap spec, very different) It is way more tactical than I would ever normally chose. It has had gasps of "shiv",, from none knifey folk but still its in my pocket every day. Simply function over form.

    Bushcraft and Mental Health

The woods is my church and my friends the parishioners and I seem to require a "fix" at least once every month or two, at the very least. If I do not get that fix I start to suffer in various ways, the usual, lack of patience, down turn in mood, quick to anger and the grey fog start to set in...
